Discover Places To Eat

Yaochima is a WeChat Mini Program that helps you decide on where to eat next with a few quick shakes of your phone.

Local Chinese apps like Dianping or Meituan overwhelm users with endless and overwhelming possibilities of where to eat. In the restaurant-riddled city of Chengdu, the freedom to judge all your options arrests you and your friends in a paradox of choice.

With each shake of your phone, Yaochima shows you nearby restaurants within walking distance. Each result displays cuisine and price range: if you don’t lock either factor and shake again, those categories are filtered out of future results to help you narrow down and make a decision.

To localize and enthuse the use of the app by locals of Chengdu, we recorded, edited, and added Sichuan exclamations and randomized them to crow with each shake.

All icons, logos, and graphics were created and coded by me.

Level Up Your Sticker Game

WeChat Stickers are a fun, witty, and cultural treasure trove for everyday social interactions. From private conversations to group banter, it is a badge of coolness and hilarity in the digital community when you produce the perfect sticker at the perfect time.

WeChat users discover stickers through adding them from a conversation where it's posted. When you're browsing other kinds of content like sticker galleries, websites, blogs, or Twitter, it's a challenge to be able to add the gif to your WeChat collection due to its size, format, or cross-app compatibility.

As a solution to this challenge, we built a sticker machine by calling Giphy's API. I designed the logo and coded the front end for maximum sticker-enjoyment: big, shiny mason grid layout to search and highlight the variety of different sticker results in a dynamic way. Clicking on the sticker brings you to preview the sticker alone, and longpressing allows you to add it to your personal WeChat sticker gallery.

Unveil The City, Unlock Its Treasures

Journey Into Chengdu shrouds Chengdu in a fantastic mystery: explore the city to unveil the map and discover its treasure when you unlock the landmarks pinned on the map.

The FreeCodingCamp Chengdu Hackathon 2017 was themed "smart cities". Dan, Steve, and I were inspired by the idea of both transient expats and old-school locals to embrace and explore our city beyond our work commute or favorite subway stops.

We are used to using technology to get us from point A to point B-- we wanted to create an app that initiated curiosity, a sense of adventure, and kept the user engaged off-screen. Our app is merely a tool to navigate and lead your own expedition amongst the cities and alleyways of Chengdu.

Alumnus & Workshop Facilitator

I continue to lead design sprints for current and future Le Wagon Chengdu batches.

I lead the Women In Tech event on women's day, where I facilitated product design for attendees split into groups; we went over case studies for why diversity is beneficial for a safer, healthier future in business strategy, design, STEM jobs, and more.

Highschool Tech Bootcamp is a collaboration between Le Wagon and Greater China. Dan, Allen and I condensed bootcamp material into one week with a group of bright, curious, and intelligent Chinese high school students.

I originally became a student of Le Wagon because learning code would empower me to communicate even better with developers as a designer. When I began Le Wagon, learning code became a wonderful experience to express creativity, solve everyday puzzles, and build tools for myself.

Perspectives On Psychedelics

I worked my way up from volunteer coordinator to becoming the marketing director for the 10th annual Horizons Conference in New York City. As marketing director I helped reach out to unite different communities in psychedelics research for cross-promotional partnerships and sponsorships, launch outreach campaigns on social media, draft and schedule posts, and implement and redesign the current year's website.

Horizons is an annual forum in New York City that examines the role of psychedelic drugs and plant medicines in science, medicine, culture and spirituality.

Now in its twelfth year, Horizons is the largest and longest-running annual gathering of the psychedelic community in the world.
